The Inner Light Center symbol is an eight pointed crystalline star. It announces the New Age of Spirit, raises energy into the next Octave of Light, and holds the pure light frequency of Love, Light, Harmony and Peace that it radiates out to all. The upright cross represents the Tree with roots firmly planted in the earth, upper branches reaching to the Divine Source, and side branches reaching out with the power of loving kindness. The X cross represents the Divine Marriage of Love and Wisdom, and celebrates unity. The heart of the star represents the birth of the Divine Inner Light in every heart. The three circles represent the radiant power, and protective field of Light. |

Affluence and Squalor “Most people think that American are generous because we are rich. The truth is that we are rich, in significant part, because we are generous.” The quote is from The Greater Good, How Philanthropy Drives the American Economy and Can Save Capitalism, by Claire Gaudiani, published in 2003 by Henry Holt & Co., N.Y. She also says, “More Americans give than vote.” There are many philosophers who believe that the act of giving can change, over time, our experience from poverty to affluence. With even a small gift, we can give ourselves permission to shift from feeling need, to feeling abundance. Our attitudes about wealth tend to attract it or repel it.
Sometimes I say something like this: “I OWN wealth; I own the option of being wealthy. I’m WORTHY of the option to choose how much wealth is just right for me, without the need to compare or keep score. I LET myself be comfortable with that choice. I let myself prosper to the degree that is healthful and comfortable for me; and I bless all others in their choices.” The onus of great wealth is great responsibility. Poverty brings different responsibilities. I personally like a middle road, and am more comfortable with those responsibilities. When I see squalor, I have a tendency to feel sad for people whose lives show no apparent hope of escape. Usually I affirm silently for them, “You OWN the option of abundance, as a God-given right. You’re WORTHY of living any way you choose, and I know you are not a victim of any person or circumstance. I know you can LET yourself find the many possibilities there are, and choose the options which are best for you and those you love.” The truth is that wealth and poverty have no power of their own. We’ve all known people who were raised in poverty who were strengthened and encouraged to achieve great success. Others in like circumstances turned to crime and early deaths. Similarly, many whose families were very wealthy used their affluence to accomplish great things and to use their wealth in philanthropy. Others, raised wealthy, became despots. Attitudes toward money (or away from it) have more to do with our experience than money itself. There’s another step in this process, which I have found to be energizing. It can seem risky, knowing the power of the word; but properly understood, it can be very empowering prayer. It happens in a state of consciousness where one can see beyond the world of effect and view the world of possibility. Caution: If you choose to use this prayer, do so with full awareness of the creative power of your word. Try it only when you’re in a high state of consciousness; not on a down day. “I OWN squalor. I OWN urban blight. I OWN poverty. I OWN every feeling which humanity can experience because I am one with all people everywhere. I own squalor, urban light and poverty; therefore they cannot own me. They have no choice except to respond to my bidding because I own them. I am WORTHY of this power. Spiritual laws would not allow me to abuse or misuse this ownership. I now bid squalor, urban blight and poverty to ease the grip they seem to have over these people. I see these people taking back their power over circumstances. They are precious children of our loving and generous Creator, and are loved as all of us are loved – equally. I see these people letting go of fear, anxiety, panic, anger, hunger and hopelessness. I LET myself see beyond their need for their unlimited potential. I let go of any limiting belief about them, feeling great gratitude for the good I know is theirs.” Below is a partial list of spiritual gifts we have all been given. Some remain “wrapped and under the tree” awaiting our acceptance. Discomfort can be an invitation to own more fully the gifts of Spirit. Adversity may be an invitation to open a gift we’ve never even imagined. None of these gifts are diminished by our enthusiastic ownership of them. They’re available to all people. Add to the list when you think of other gifts you own or would like to own.
